Moishe Hughes
()Co-Founder Breathe Health Center
Cannabis Activist
A Berkeley native, Moishke graduated from post-college careers in the food industry and as a high school and college basketball coach, to meet his eventual calling in the health, wellness and self-care world.
He joined forces with Doctor C to create Breathe Health Center in 2014. At the clinic, he is a body worker and healthy lifestyle coach, promoting holistic self-care and the self-empowering four-pillar whole-life health philosophy of wellness and harm-reduction.
His career is shaped by a ruptured Achilles tendon injury suffered wile coaching basketball in 2008. The injury rendered him homebound for an extended recovery time, prompted a natural shift away from basketball, and opened an opportunity to attend Oakland’s then-thriving Oaksterdam University, sparking an interest in medicinal cannabis and infusion into beneficial oils.
He graduated high in his class, and after many trials and errors, has solved certain mysteries of herbal infusion, ultimately creating a line of skin- and body-care topicals, and producing branded product for local dispensaries throughout California’s Prop. 215 era.
Working within the cooperative clinic structure, and with critique and feedback of patients, he refined his formulations, and his products have developed a following of their own over the past 15 years, adding comfort to the lives of thousands of local patients with a wide range of acute and less-severe life conditions. He is known as a pioneer in the field of cannabis skincare, and still is a passionate activist for cannabis-compassion programs, and continued access for needy patients.
Additionally, he continues as the owner/operator of Scents-O-Mia, a local 215 legacy- and Oakland-equity brand of infused skin and body-care products.
